Tourism Summit Aotearoa

Venue

We're excited to bring Tourism Summit Aotearoa back to Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington and to Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Getting there

Tākina is located in Wellington CBD's cultural precinct, within easy walking distance of key transport links, entertainment and dining options, and thousands of accommodation rooms.

There are two different public entrances to get into Tākina:

  • One entrance on Cable Street
  • One entrance on Wakefield Street

Travel times from Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre:

  • 2 mins walk to Wellington's scenic waterfront, home of New Zealand's national museum Te Papa.
  • 5 mins walk to Courtenay Place, where you'll find some of the city's top restaurants and a bustling arts and theatre scene.
  • 5-10 mins walk to colourful Cuba Street and its inner-city laneways - the heart of Wellington's world-renowned cafe culture.
  • 15-20 mins walk to The Beehive, Parliament Buildings and Lambton Quay - Wellington's premier shopping precinct.
  • 15 min drive to/from Wellington Airport

Parking

Covered and uncovered parking is available across the road at Te Papa and has a height restriction of 2.2m for the covered spaces. You can pay with cash, EFTPOS or credit card.

Barnett Street Wellington City Council car park has uncovered parking spaces only. You can pay with the PayMyPark app, debit/credit card or cash (exact amounts only).  

Century City has covered parking only and has a height restriction of 2m. You can pay with cash, card or paywave.  

Reading on Wakefield car park has uncovered parking spaces only. You can pay with cash (exact amounts only), card or paywave.  

Public transport

By bus  

Most Wellington buses (including those from the airport and railway station) stop along Courtenay Place and Willis Street. From these stops, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to Tākina. 

Taxis  

Wellington Combined Taxis have a stand outside Te Papa. You then cross the road at the designated crossing and come in the Cable Street entrance to Tākina.  

From Wellington Airport 

You can catch a taxi, rideshare, or bus from Wellington Airport to Tākina.  

By bus  

  • The Airport Express (AX) runs 7 days a week, every 10-20 minutes, except for the first few morning services and evening services. Travel time from Wellington Station to the Wellington International Airport is approximately 25- 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Free Wi-Fi, USB charging and luggage racks are available on board. 

Accessibility

Tākina has been designed and built to be accessible for everyone. 

Wheelchair access 

Tākina has access ramps at both main entrances. 

Internally, we provide lifts to all areas, accessible toilets on all floors, and a convenient parents' room on Level 1. 

All our meeting spaces are designed for easy access with ample circulation space around entranceways. 

Vision impairment 

Registered assistance dogs are welcome in all our spaces. 

Assisted hearing 

Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre has hearing assistance augmentation throughout the venue. 

Listeners can easily select channel and volume level once their personal device is connected to the Wifi network. 

The WaveCAST App is used to listen to streaming live audio from Williams AV audio products. Audio is sent over a Wi-Fi connection directly to your personal device, letting you easily listen in. 

Mobility parking 

Five accessible car spaces are available near to the ground-floor entrance of nearby Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, two are uncovered and three are covered.
