Sustainability Manager (12-month cover)

What do you do at TIA?

I'm covering the Sustainability Manager role at TIA for 12 months, supporting the delivery of Tourism 2050 and TIA's work to help the tourism industry lift its environmental, social and cultural performance. My role focuses on supporting members, partners and stakeholders to build capability, embed sustainability into decision-making, and turn strategy into practical, on-the-ground action.

What's your career background?

I have more than 15 years of experience working across sustainability strategy, community and stakeholder engagement, programme delivery and events. I've worked in local government, consultancy and large-scale events, designing and delivering practical, people-centred solutions to complex environmental challenges. I hold a Master of Sustainable Practice and have led initiatives in areas such as waste minimisation, circular economy and sustainable events, working with councils, major public events, and tourism operators across Aotearoa.

What do you do for fun?

Outside of work, I spend as much time as possible getting into nature with my family, whether that's heading out for walks, being on or in the water, or getting up into the mountains. I enjoy keeping active, playing football, and also love making music, playing the ukulele and singing.

What's one thing every visitor to New Zealand should do?

Visit Castle Hill | Kura Tāwhiti, 100km west of Ōtautahi | Christchurch, and spend time exploring among the limestone rocks. It’s an extraordinary place to slow down, reflect, and connect with the landscape, and has been described by the Dalai Lama as one of the spiritual centres of the universe.
