TIA's recently conducted its annual workforce survey to identify key challenges and opportunities in the tourism workforce.
Positively, the survey results show that business confidence has increased significantly, with 86% of tourism organisations feeling confident about the year ahead, up 11% on 2024 results. Encouragingly almost half of respondent (47%) are also actively recruiting, with these jobs spread across the country delivering broad economic benefits for Aotearoa New Zealand's communities.
The top three challenges facing the tourism industry remain consistent with 2024 feedback, including increased costs and product pricing, weather-related challenges and managing burnout and the mental wellbeing of their staff.
This survey supports TIA’s advocacy efforts, including visa scheme reviews and workforce development initiatives.
