Loving studying tourism

2017 Tourism Industry New Zealand Trust Scholarship winner Benjamin Kearns is loving studying tourism at Victoria University. He's also getting practical experience, working as a casual porter at a Wellington hotel.

"The time has flown. I am really enjoying the diversity of the study topics, which are thought provoking," says Benjamin.

"I love the way the he Bachelor of Tourism Management allows you to tailor aspects of interest, alongside the tourism courses, but complementary to the core subjects. I have adapted well to the university lifestyle, and think Wellington is a great city.

"My accommodation is in the new Capital Hall, right in the heart of the city. I am enjoying the social aspect and cultural diversity of hall life and have made good friendships.

"In my first week in Wellington, I started my job as a casual porter for CQ Hotels Limited in Cuba Street, which includes front desk experience, and gives me some real world insight relative to my studies."
