Air Connectivity

TIA supports New Zealand’s long-standing Open Skies policy that largely ensures that aviation connections for moving people to, from and within New Zealand are unconstrained and able to move with demand levels over time.

TIA supports a recommencement of international passenger connections with countries where we can be confident that travel is safe, and that travel systems consider all aspects of the passenger journey including pre-flight health requirements, protections on board the aircraft, movement through airports, and contact tracing requirements.

With aviation connectivity so important to the recovery from the COVID period, particular attention is likely to be needed to ensure aviation capacity can be restored in line with demand and New Zealand’s capacity to host quality tourism activity.
